Miranda Hart has spoken out about her emotional nature, confessing that her husband Richard Fairs often catches her in tears at the kitchen table.
The 52-year-old telly favourite confesses to shedding tears “pretty much every day”. Initially, Richard was frightened by Miranda’s constant crying, but he’s already gotten used to it.
Miranda notes that she is a “highly sensitive person,” meaning she feels life’s experiences more intensely than some. Psychology Today states that an estimated 10 to 15 percent of persons are deemed “highly sensitive”.
She believes this trait is something she received from her father, Naval commander David Hart Dyke, but she confesses that her mother, Diana Luce, found it difficult to fathom.
On the Therapy Works podcast, Miranda shared: “I have a cry pretty much everyday, probably every other day, generally a tear of joy but sometimes my husband will find me just sitting at the kitchen table and he’s become used to it now. Normally he would hurry like ‘oh my god, are you alright? ‘ but I’m just letting something go, I’m totally OK, it’ll be gone in five minutes,” reported Leicestershire Live.

“Now he just comes in ‘hi’ and the tears are streaming down. He doesn’t bat an eyelid. But my mother never understood that.”
Miranda is internationally renowned for her self-titled BBC series Miranda. Her career contains parts in various iconic TV programs, including Call The Midwife, Not Going Out, Smack the Pony, The Vicar of Dibley, and Absolutely Fabulous.
Miranda Hart has disclosed that she married the wedding with her partner Richard in a covert ceremony last year. The actress and comedian, who started dating Richard in 2020, made the announcement in her book I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You.
During an appearance on The One Show, Miranda spoke about her marriage, saying: “I’m married, I got married at 51 and it’s just so amazing. I’d written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person. He’s my greatest buddy, we had the best time and I’m absolutely pleased to be a young wife at 51.”
Miranda is slated to appear on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on BBC One tonight at 6:50pm, alongside darts champion Luke Littler and M People vocalist Heather Small.
