Nebraska football is pursuing one of the top high school edge rushers in the country.
Earlier this month, the Huskers extended an offer to 2027 four-star David Jacobs. Jacobs performs at Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, Georgia.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Jacobs is Georgia’s No. 2 player and the nation’s No. 4. The 6-5, 220-pound prospect is ranked third in the class among edge rushers.
Jacobs has received almost two dozen offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, California, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, West Virginia, and Nebraska.
Jacobs followed up with HuskerMax after receiving his Husker offer.
“This offer means so much, man,” Jacobs added. “I really do appreciate the offer to an amazing program and school.”
The offer came from Phil Simpson, Nebraska’s new outside linebackers coach, who recently returned to the staff.
“Coach Simpson offered me and his message was you are welcome to Nebraska and I love that,” Jacobs told reporters.
The Georgia prospect has not yet scheduled a visit to Lincoln, but he hopes to do so soon.
“I don’t know when but I definitely be trying to get up to Nebraska for sure,” Jacobs told me.
