With the Buffalo Bills’ AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Josh Allen will have a chance at redemption. Ahead of the Bills-Chiefs game, we’ll make some bold Josh Allen AFC Championship predictions.
To be considered a modern great, Allen must eventually beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. The three-time Pro Bowler has been outstanding since 2020, but he has lost against Patrick Mahomes and his team in all three postseason encounters. If Allen does not lead Buffalo to victory on Sunday, fans may label him a “playoff fraud.”
Meanwhile, Mahomes has won three Super Bowls and may win a fourth this season. In that instance, the 29-year-old would be more than halfway to Tom Brady’s record of seven, further separating himself from his colleagues on the mountain.
Allen spoke with NFL.com’s Kevin Petra about the Chiefs after the Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens 27-25 in the divisional round on Sunday.
“We understand what they are. “They’re the perennial example of what you want to be in the NFL,” said the two-time Second-Team All-Pro. “You have to beat them in order to pass them. So, you know, we’ll enjoy this one tonight.”
While Kansas City (16-2) is a tough opponent, Buffalo’s 30-21 victory over them on November 17 should give them confidence. Allen, on the other hand, stated prior to the Ravens game that he is not allowing his victory to cloud his judgment.
“The regular season is what the regular season is, and it doesn’t matter how well you perform when you get to the playoffs, it doesn’t really matter,” the graduate of Wyoming told reporters. “It’s difficult to beat a team twice. We realize that. We are aware of this. It is a team that we defeated earlier in the season, but it is not the same one. They got some guys back on defense and offensively, and I can’t say enough right now. I don’t know much about it because I’ve been focused on the Ravens, so we’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
After defeating two-time MVP and 2024 MVP favorite Lamar Jackson, Allen will face Mahomes for the fourth time in the playoffs. Will he be able to finally defeat his kryptonite?
