LSU reserve quarterback Colin Hurley was hospitalized when a car collided with an oak tree on campus early Thursday morning.
His family’s statement, provided by the university, described his condition as “stable”.
Hurley, a freshman from Jacksonville, Florida who has yet to play for the Tigers, was discovered motionless behind the wheel but breathing by the Baton Rouge Fire Department shortly before 3 a.m., according to emergency first responder data acquired by WBRZ-TV.

LSU Police, who also went to the scene, declined to comment on the accident’s cause and stated that their report would not be accessible to the public for at least seven to ten days.
LSU officials declined to respond because Hurley, 17, is a juvenile.
“Colin would like to thank the first responders, the incredible doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health and the many Tiger Fans for their care and compassion,” according to the family’s statement. “Colin is sleeping and stable while additional tests and treatment are being provided. We are hopeful that Colin will fully recover from this awful catastrophe.”
