Watt’s performance dipped towards the end of the previous season, as he failed to record a sack in four of his last five regular-season games, leading to a fourth-place finish in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He ended the season with 11.5 sacks and six forced fumbles, the latter of which led the league.
There has been some speculation about Watt and the Steelers parting ways this offseason, but realistically, there’s little reason for either side to pursue that outcome.
Watt still has a lot to offer, and as a future Hall of Famer and one of the franchise’s greatest players, it’s difficult to imagine Pittsburgh letting him go unless he requested a trade.
There’s no sign that Watt wants to leave, and with the Steelers still in a position to contend for a playoff spot in 2025, it seems likely that their partnership will continue for the foreseeable future.
