Josh Conerly Jr., a tackle from Oregon, was chosen by the Washington Commanders with the 29th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Conerly, a former five-star recruit from Seattle’s Rainier Beach High School, is a youthful athlete who has the potential to become a classic starting tackle in the future. Conerly is a strong blocker in the run game who knows how to finish, standing 6′ 4 and weighing 315 pounds. He recorded 317 running plays with a run-block grade of 66 in his first season as a starter.
However, Conerly excels in his role as a pass-blocker. He was a member of an offensive line in 2023 that finished the season with just five sacks allowed. He recorded a pass-blocking grade of 76.9, allowing only one sack and two quarterback hits.

In 2024, Conerly was even more successful. He just gave up one sack and five pressures, which is nine less than what he gave up in 2023. Against Boise State in Week 2, that sack occurred. He allowed just two quarterback hits and kept quarterback Dillon Gabriel off the ground for the remainder of the season.
Their top asset, Jayden Daniels, has been the focus of the Commanders’ efforts. Last season, they selected Brandon Coleman in the draft and acquired left tackle Laremy Tunsil. One of the best offensive lineman in this year’s class has now added.
