Rookie Offensive Lineman Shares Thoughts on the Chiefs
Aireontae Ersery, a promising NFL Draft hopeful, recently spoke about his experiences with the Kansas City Chiefs. A Kansas City native and a standout at the University of Minnesota, Ersery spent four years playing for the Golden Gophers.
He sat down with FOX4 News’ Harold R. Kuntz to talk about potentially being selected by his hometown team. The Chiefs included Ersery among their top 30 pre-draft visits and have been linked to him in several mock drafts.
Speaking on his interaction with head coach Andy Reid, Ersery shared a light-hearted moment: “I joked with him and said if you pick me, I’ll bring you a cheeseburger every day.”
NFL analyst Lance Zierlein described Ersery as a powerful three-year starting left tackle, best suited for power and inside-zone schemes. While he may struggle with leverage due to flexibility issues, he compensates with quick footwork, long arms, and upper-body strength. Zierlein believes Ersery has the tools to develop into a solid starting right tackle depending on matchups.
Ersery impressed scouts at the NFL Combine with a 5.01-second 40-yard dash—ranking sixth among offensive linemen, showcasing his rare mix of size and speed.
Being drafted by the Chiefs would be a fitting homecoming and could address a key need on their offensive line. Analysts believe Ersery will likely be available in the second round, allowing Kansas City to consider other prospects like tight end Mason Taylor with their first-round pick to prepare for the post-Travis Kelce era.
