NFL Media reported earlier this week that the Miami Dolphins and CB Jalen Ramsey had “mutually agreed” to explore trade options. There should be some suitors for the seven-time Pro Bowler; it just depends on the financial feasibility and the needs of the organization.
Ramsey is entering his age-31 season and has not been selected to the Pro Bowl since his rookie season last year. However, he was still quite effective in 2024, allowing an 83.2 passer rating and 11 pass breakups. PFF ranked him as the league’s 10th best cornerback.
The Vikings re-signed Byron Murphy and signed Isaiah Rodgers in free agency, but the depth chart at cornerback remains unclear. So having them in the mix for Ramsey is a simple concept.
Ramsey did not work with Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores during his three-year tenure as head coach in Miami. In 2021, he was with the Los Angeles Rams, where Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell was the offensive coordinator.
Any discussions about obtaining Ramsey must involve a discussion about his contract. He inked a three-year contract worth $72.3 million with the Dolphins last November. He has already received a $4 million roster bonus, so an acquiring team would be taking on a $21.1 million guarantee for this season.
The guaranteed pay in his contract expires after this year, but the Dolphins will incur some dead money regardless of when a trade is made or how an option bonus is distributed.
The Dolphins might want to trade Ramsey before the NFL Draft, which begins next Thursday, April 24th. With that in mind, some trade proposals that have already been released go along those lines.
Dustin Baker of Vikings Territory recently shared a trade suggestion to bring Ramsey to Minnesota.
Bleacher Report just provided a trade proposal that would send Ramsey to Minnesota, but they deleted the 2026 sixth-round pick included in Baker’s request.
Minnesota has only four picks in this year’s NFL Draft, barring a potential trade out of the first round to add picks.

However, a player of Ramsey’s caliber makes it acceptable to trade one, with the expectation that the Vikings will replace it with a move out of the first round.
