Good news for Lakers as Grizzlies release injury status upgrade for Grizzlies vs Lakers

The Memphis Grizzlies released a positive injury report on standout guard Ja Morant ahead of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Memphis released an early injury report on Friday, one day before the game. It indicates that Morant will have a dubious status while recovering from a hamstring strain.

Morant has been out of the Grizzlies’ rotation since March 15. He missed six games at that time because of a hamstring injury, and his team has gone 2-4 since.

He has continued to play an important role in the team’s success this season, going 28-15 in appearances. Morant is averaging 22.3 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game in 43 games. He’s shooting 44.9% from the field, with 29.1% from beyond the arc.

The injury report on Ja Morant was a good sign for the Memphis Grizzlies, especially following the news about head coach Taylor Jenkins.
After six seasons, the Grizzlies decided to part ways with Jenkins. Even though he guided them to three playoff appearances, it appears the organization wants to take a different approach by moving on from him.

His finest season was in 2021-22, when he guided the team to a 56-26 record and the West Semifinals for the first time since 2015. They lost in six games against the eventual NBA champions, the Golden State Warriors.

In addition, the organization fired numerous assistants from his coaching staff. This could indicate a shift in Memphis basketball style.

Memphis is currently 44-29 in the season, ranking fifth in the Western Conference standings. They are equal with the Los Angeles Lakers and 1.5 games behind the Denver Nuggets.
