On Friday, the New England Patriots officially signed former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The Patriots are Diggs’ third team in three years, and according to a recent story, the former Vikings pass-catcher was also interested in a couple of other teams.
During an episode of “NFL Live” earlier this week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that the Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos had expressed interest in signing the former Minnesota draft pick this offseason.
Yes, the Broncos are currently led by head coach Sean Payton, whom Vikings fans have come to loathe over the years.

Fortunately, Diggs elected not to link up with Payton in Denver this summer, instead signing a lucrative contract with New England. But it’s not surprising that the Broncos apparently wanted to add the All-Pro receiver to their roster this year.
When Minnesota selected Diggs in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, current Denver general manager George Paton served as the Vikings’ assistant general manager and vice president of player personnel.
Paton is very familiar with what Diggs can bring to an offense, and he would have been a consistent target for Broncos quarterback Bo Nix next season. But, unfortunately for Denver, the former Minnesota receiver has chosen to catch passes from Patriots second-year quarterback Drake Maye rather than Nix.
After injuring his ACL in Week 8 of last season, it will be intriguing to see if Diggs will be ready to play for New England when the 2025 season begins. On Friday, he stated that he is ahead of schedule in his recuperation from the injury, but that does not guarantee he will be ready for Week 1 next season.
Diggs’ stint with the Patriots will most likely take one of two courses. It’ll either go really, really well or it’ll be a huge disaster, with no in-between.
Vikings fans are well aware of the good and bad moments Diggs creates wherever he plays, and New England is simply hoping he creates more good than bad ones for them.
