Following a recent $300 million investment, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to be interested in South Carolina Gamecocks’ Nick Emmanwori in the forthcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
The draft is already less than a month away, and expectations are rising. Athlon Sports NFL draft expert Luke Easterling believes Emmanwori would be a “dream fit” for the Vikings.
Easterling writes: “An great scenario and dream fit for the Vikings, who add some much-needed draft cash in the middle rounds while still landing the man they should have picked in their original location. Emmanwori is a unique athlete who possesses the size, athleticism, range, and playmaking ability to wreck Brian Flores’ defense.”
The Vikings have undoubtedly been busy. According to ESPN, in just seven days in early March, they moved or signed 14 players for a total of more than $300 million. And quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ future remains uncertain.
On March 26, NFL.com reported that Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah stated, “Right now, given all of our scenario planning, we’re happy with our room, and obviously, we’re going to talk a lot about J.J. McCarthy.” But Brett Rypien, who we got in last summer and is a better athlete than people give him credit for, we’re enthusiastic about him. And we’ll continue to look to see if we can improve that position, as we do with all others.”
Regarding Rodgers, Adofo-Mensah told NFL.com, “I believe we got to a point where we just said, everybody was transparent, but right now we feel comfortable about where we’re going, and that’s essentially how it ended. It is ultimately up to him (Rodgers); it is difficult to discuss a guy who is not under contract with our organization and is not a member of this team. It is ultimately up to him to determine what he wants to do with his future, but that is where we left it.
Meanwhile, other NFL teams may be interested in Emmanwori, according to Pro Day reports. According to 247 Sports, Gerald Alexander, the Steelers’ defensive back coach, spoke with Emmanwori before to on-field exercises on Pro Day. According to Josh Kendall of The Athletic, the Falcons, Panthers, Seahawks, Dolphins, and Bengals have all showed interest in Emmanwori.
