The New Orleans Saints and wide receiver Cedrick Wilson have agreed to a restructured contract, as first reported by Katherine Terrell of ESPN on Wednesday morning. Wilson’s original salary cap hit for the 2025-26 season was $3.4 million, but the new deal lowers it to $1.67 million for this year and includes a voided year in 2026. Wilson, 29, is set to begin his second season with the Saints. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys out of Boise State. Over three seasons with Dallas, Wilson played in 38 games, recording 67 receptions for 837 yards and 8 touchdowns. After becoming a free agent in 2022, he signed a three-year contract with the Miami Dolphins, where he played for two seasons, catching 34 passes for 432 yards and 3 touchdowns in 30 games.
The Saints signed Wilson to a two-year contract in the previous offseason. In 2024, he played 15 games, starting 4. New Orleans needed receiving help after losing key players like Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Bub Means for the season. Despite the Saints’ need, Wilson finished with only 20 receptions for 211 yards and 1 touchdown, along with one 21-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Kamara against Washington. His best performance came in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos, when he caught 6 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. He had multiple receptions in just four of his other 14 games, with a high of 28 yards.
Wilson is the son of Cedrick Wilson Sr., who played wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers from 2001 to 2007. During his two years at Boise State, Wilson Jr. had 139 receptions for 2,640 yards and 18 touchdowns. His best NFL season was in 2021 with Dallas, where he recorded 45 catches for 602 yards and 6 touchdowns.
