The Pittsburgh Steelers’ leadership, including head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan, met with Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe on Tuesday. Milroe is embracing the Steelers’ interest and, in true leader fashion, is proactively engaging with the team.
In an interview following Alabama’s pro day, Milroe discussed his meeting with the Steelers and expressed excitement about the opportunity. He spoke highly of the chance to interact with the Steelers’ leadership and recalled the fierce battles in the AFC North.
“I really appreciated the chance to meet with the Steelers,” Milroe said. “I remember watching the AFC North and the intense competition there. Getting to be around Coach Tomlin is something I don’t take for granted.”
Milroe made it clear that if the Steelers were to draft him, he would make the most of every opportunity provided, particularly during the offseason program, which could help him earn favor within the organization.
“If I get the opportunity to be their quarterback, I’ll take full advantage of it,” Milroe stated.
Milroe is currently expected to be drafted on day two of the draft, though his stock has not risen during the draft season. Once seen as a potential first-round pick, Milroe is now projected to go in the third round.
A two-time team captain, Milroe impresses with his leadership, humility, and strong will, demonstrating solid intangibles. However, questions about his football skills remain. Throughout his time at Alabama, Milroe has struggled with processing and accuracy, issues that continued during his Senior Bowl practices.
