Packers GM Brian Gutekunst announced that the club has agreed to terms for a blockbuster Jaire Alexander trade…

Three years after trading Davante Adams, the Packers are still looking for answers

Jaire Alexander is still with the Packers. I know, I was surprised too, but I double-checked.

For the past few months, it’s felt like a breakup between the Packers and Alexander was inevitable. For various reasons, it seemed not only likely but also the right decision.

The situation heated up last week when ESPN Packers insider Rob Demovsky suggested a trade could happen within days. That didn’t come to pass – no worries, Rob, it happens to the best of us – but it doesn’t mean the end goal has changed. In a new article about Packers’ CB Nate Hobbs, Demovsky included a curious tidbit about the current status.

It appears the Packers are still trying to trade Jaire Alexander.

“While Alexander is still on the roster, sources from the team and close to the player say the Packers are actively trying to trade him. They might wait indefinitely, but they’d prefer to finalize a deal before next month’s draft. One source mentioned the team hasn’t asked Alexander to take a pay cut, and even if they did, he wouldn’t accept. If no trade partner is found, the Packers would likely release him, but there’s no rush since he doesn’t have guaranteed money left on his contract until the regular season starts, when he’s set to make $17.5 million.”

Keep pushing, Brian Gutekunst. Maybe a desperate team will finally make a move soon. The Cowboys are always there when you need them for a questionable trade.

So, as we enter Week 2 of Free Agency, nothing has changed: Alexander is still with the Packers, and the Packers still hope he’s not. We’ll check in again in Week 3—hopefully, we’ll have a trade to talk about by then. At this point, I’ll settle for a cryptic Instagram post or something.
