New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the team has reached an agreement with unrestricted free agent defensive end Jonah Williams on a one-year contract.
Jonah Williams, standing 6-5 and weighing 275 pounds, is a four-year NFL veteran who was initially signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Rams in 2020. After spending the 2020 season on the Rams’ practice squad, Williams went on to play 50 games with 23 starts for the Rams (2021-24), Minnesota Vikings (2024), and Detroit Lions (2024). During his career, he has totaled 80 tackles (33 solo), 2.5 sacks, and five tackles for loss. He has also participated in two postseason games, one with the Rams in 2023 and one with the Lions in 2024, recording three tackles and a tackle for loss.
Williams, a native of Meridian, Idaho, played four seasons at Weber State (2016-19), where he appeared in 54 games with 52 starts. Over his college career, he recorded 194 tackles (71 solo), 15.0 sacks, 28.0 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. Williams was a key player in leading the Wildcats to three consecutive Big Sky Conference titles from 2017 to 2019. As a senior, he earned Big Sky Defensive MVP honors and was named first-team All-Big Sky after starting 15 games, recording 62 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.
