The New Orleans Saints have focused on strengthening their defensive line as they kick off free agency, making another move to bolster the unit.
The Saints are signing defensive end Jonah Williams to a one-year contract, according to a source familiar with the situation. Williams, 29, played for the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams, and Detroit Lions last season, appearing in nine games with one start.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 275 pounds, Williams entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020 after playing at Weber State. He has recorded 80 career tackles and 2½ sacks.
In the past week, the Saints have also made several moves to strengthen their defensive line, including trading for defensive tackle Davon Godchaux, re-signing Chase Young to a three-year deal, restructuring Cam Jordan’s contract, extending Nathan Shepherd’s deal by one year, and reworking Khalen Saunders’ contract.
