BREAKING NEWS: Vikings Sign Explosive Young WR in Free Agency…

According to Diana Russini of The Athletic, the Minnesota Vikings are among the teams showing interest in former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp. The Vikings have connections to Kupp, who was named Super Bowl 56 MVP. Head coach Kevin O’Connell and offensive coordinator Wes Phillips both worked with Kupp during the Rams’ Super Bowl victory four seasons ago. Both coaches have praised Kupp over the years, and with the Rams releasing him on March 12, he has become a potential target for Minnesota.

Russini shared on the “Gojo and Golic” podcast on March 13 that there is significant interest in Kupp from multiple teams. She mentioned that Kupp is looking for a contract worth around $14-$15 million and noted that the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Green Bay Packers are also eyeing him. Despite the Vikings’ interest in Kupp, they are also exploring younger options in free agency and are close to making a move. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that former Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Rondale Moore is visiting the Vikings. At just 24 years old, Moore is considerably younger than Kupp. A 2021 second-round pick, Moore is a quick, versatile slot receiver standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 180 pounds. He impressed with his 4.32 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and has experience playing multiple receiver positions and even in the backfield.

Over three seasons with the Cardinals, Moore recorded 135 receptions for 1,201 yards and added 52 carries for 249 yards and four total touchdowns. After being traded to the Falcons, he suffered a season-ending knee injury during training camp. While both Kupp and Moore have their pros and cons, the price difference between them is significant. Kupp remains a reliable chain-mover, while Moore would offer more versatility but also comes with injury concerns. The Vikings are looking to strengthen their wide receiver depth, especially with Jalen Nailor struggling as the third option and Jordan Addison possibly facing suspension due to a DUI case.
