Kentucky basketball wrapped up their regular season on Saturday with a road win against the Missouri Tigers in Columbia, securing a 91-83 victory despite a late rally by Missouri. The game had significant implications for both the SEC and NCAA Tournament seedings, and the Wildcats added another top-15 win to their record, tying the all-time college basketball record for the most top-15 wins in a single season.
Although Kentucky struggled early, falling behind 11-4 due to Missouri’s offensive pressure, they bounced back with an 11-2 run, sparked by a scoring drought from the Tigers. From that point, the Wildcats caught fire from beyond the arc, building a 16-point lead in the second half. However, a scoring slump and a Missouri run narrowed the lead to single digits, but Kentucky managed to hold on for the win.
Missouri, known for their transition game and ability to capitalize on steals, posed a challenge for Kentucky, but the Wildcats were able to limit their fast-break opportunities until late in the game. Key plays in the final moments helped Kentucky maintain their lead. Andrew Carr played a pivotal role, contributing 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists. Otega Oweh led the team with 22 points, Koby Brea added 17, and Amari Williams chipped in 14. Kentucky shot 48% overall and 11-20 from three, while Missouri shot 44% overall and 11-28 from deep.
Despite the tense finish, Kentucky secured another important win to close out their regular season. This victory guarantees them a No. 5, 6, or 7 seed in the SEC Tournament and strengthens their position for a likely 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats will have a few days off to prepare for the SEC Tournament next week, where they will play on Thursday in Nashville. The time and opponent will be announced soon.
