On Thursday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian revealed updates to his coaching staff, highlighting several key additions. Among the most significant changes, Duane Akina, a former longtime member of the Texas coaching team, is making his return. Akina will take on the role of defensive passing game coordinator and safeties coach, bringing a wealth of experience to the team. In addition, Sarkisian has brought in Chad Scott as the new running backs coach.
Scott, who joins the team with a strong coaching background, will be tasked with developing and managing the running back position. Mark Orphey was also hired as the new cornerbacks coach. Orphey, known for his defensive expertise, will work with the team’s cornerbacks to strengthen their performance on the field. These appointments reflect Sarkisian’s commitment to enhancing the team’s overall defense and ensuring success across all areas of the game.
