If the Raiders had a few more players like Maxx Crosby, they’d be serious contenders every year, which means they aren’t about to let go of the only Maxx Crosby they have.
When Crosby visited us four weeks ago during the Super Bowl, he seemed to be considering whether the Raiders would become truly competitive in his football career. He now appears to believe that it’s on the way.
Or perhaps the money influenced his decision.
Either way, here are the details of the new extension Crosby signed on Wednesday. He will remain the face of the franchise for at least as long as the Raiders search for their next franchise quarterback.
- 2025 base salary: $32.5 million, fully guaranteed.
- 2025 per-game roster bonus: Up to $782,000.
- 2026 base salary: $30 million, fully guaranteed.
- 2026 per-game roster bonus: Up to $782,000.
- 2027 base salary: $29 million, guaranteed for injury upon signing and fully guaranteed by the third day of the 2026 league year.
- 2027 per-game roster bonus: Up to $782,000.
- 2028 base salary: $26.5 million.
- 2028 per-game roster bonus: Up to $782,000.
- 2029 base salary: $27.43 million.
- 2029 per-game roster bonus: Up to $782,000.
This new five-year deal replaces the two years left on his old contract, which would have paid out $42.84 million without guarantees. Now, Crosby will earn $64.064 million fully guaranteed through 2026, a $21.224 million increase.
The three-year extension has a base value of $106.5 million, with a full guarantee of $62.5 million at signing. The practice guarantee is $91.5 million, since the Raiders would have to cut him after one year (still owing $30 million) to prevent his 2027 base salary from becoming fully guaranteed.
The total value of the five-year deal at signing averages $29.868 million per year, with the new-money average reaching a record $35.5 million for non-quarterbacks.
