When the Las Vegas Raiders signed Pete Carroll to replace Antonio Pierce as head coach, the community and fan base reacted with almost overwhelming approval. Perhaps no one is more enthusiastic than Maxx Crosby, who can’t wait to get started under the new regime.
Crosby responded to the employment announcement a week later. The standout defensive end said he “loves” the move and is excited to start working with a coach that can match his on-field intensity.
“As a competitor and someone who brings energy all the time and lives off that, and expects it from others, I love somebody with that type of mentality,” Crosby said on Sirius XM Radio’s “Let’s Go” show. “[Pete Carroll] has a winning record throughout his career. It’s thrilling to see what’s coming.”

Crosby is best renowned for his high-energy play style and dependable performance on the field. He consistently ranks among the best edge rushers in terms of snap count year after year. Crosby played more than 80 percent of defensive snaps in each of his 12 games in 2024, including nine games with a 100 percent snap share.
Carroll will be Crosby’s sixth different head coach heading into his eighth season. He joined the league in 2019, when the Raiders were led by Jon Gruden. He’s since played for Rich Bisaccia, Josh McDaniels, Pierce, and now Carroll.
Despite his inconsistency, Crosby has four Pro Bowl appearances and two All-Pro selections in his career. In 2024, he recorded 7.5 sacks and missed the most games in his career.

Crosby continued his thoughts on Carroll, detailing some of his preliminary interactions with his new head coach. The 27-year-old, who has remained loyal to the Raiders despite adversity, believes he and Carroll agree on the team’s destiny.
“The big thing [Pete Carroll] mentioned is that we’re going right now. We aren’t wasting time. That was the only thing he mentioned to me following his news conference. It’s exciting because that’s how I feel every year. I want to win. I believe that everyone, from the new ownership group to Mark [Davis], is on the same page when it comes to opposing this new government.”
Crosby has only made the playoffs once in his six seasons with Las Vegas, in 2021. The Raiders finished below.500 in the previous five seasons.
Before the squad can think too far forward, it must solve numerous difficulties during the offseason. The Raiders filled their most important opening at head coach, but they still have numerous roster voids to fill. Their greatest concern remains at quarterback, as Las Vegas hasn’t had a consistent solution since Derek Carr left in 2023.
