The Dallas Cowboys switched their attention to the offseason. They took their time making selections about head coach, but eventually decided to break ways with Mike McCarthy.
They appointed Brian Schottenheimer as their tenth head coach in franchise history. With a new head coach in town, the coaching staff has seen some changes. Al Harris, Mike Zimmer, and John Fassel have all departed town.
The Cowboys have hired Matt Eberflus as their new defensive coordinator, although Ramon Chinyoung Sr. will return as an assistant offensive line coach in 2025. He revealed the news via his X account.

Chinyoung Sr. wrote, “As a family, we are grateful to be returning to Dallas! Thank you for the opportunity to glorify God’s name on the widest platform! We serve a wonderful God who does not make mistakes!”
He has been the Cowboys’ assistant offensive line coach since 2023 and is returning. Dallas was 19th in the NFL with 38 sacks allowed, but the team may use a boost next season.
Guard Zack Martin’s production decreased. He finished with a career-low overall grade of 65.6, having allowed 24 pressures and five sacks. Meanwhile, Tyler Guyton suffered tremendously as a rookie. In 15 games (11 starts), Guyton got a 49.4 overall grade (116th out of 141 eligible tackles) and a 51.3 run-blocking grade.
He yielded 26 pressures and 6 sacks. In addition, he committed 18 penalties. Cooper Beebe ran a solid campaign. The Kansas State product earned a 65.4 overall score and a 66.1 run-blocking mark.
The Cowboys have many changing pieces, but keeping Chinyoung Sr. on the coaching staff provides some continuity.
