Deion Sanders had so far avoided major problems with the NCAA throughout his tenure as a collegiate football head coach. There were minor issues here and there, including 11 self-reported breaches during his stint with the Colorado Buffaloes. But, until today, none of those transgressions had resulted in anything more than a light admonishment and course corrections.
However, Sanders is now facing some sanctions as a result of infractions in the recruitment of five-star quarterback Julian. Lewis transferred from USC and picked Colorado over many offers from top programs throughout the country.
But, before Lewis signed with the program, Sanders highlighted the premier recruit by name on his weekly coaches show. He actually did this twice. That is a massive no-no.

Because of these infractions, Will Backus of CBS Sports writes that the Colorado coaches show will now be taped rather than live-streamed, and the two programs mentioning Lewis have been taken down from YouTube.
“Sanders will have to attend additional rules education sessions, and the Buffaloes also imposed a reduction of four in-person recruiting days during the 2025 spring contact period,” according to Backus. “Sanders’ coaching show isn’t going away, even if it won’t be livestreamed; instead, the content will be reviewed and edited for potential violations before it is posted.”
The final section is not really crucial. While most coaches’ shows are live, a minor error isn’t a big problem, and Colorado donors aren’t breaking down the door to attend or listen to a live show. However, the reduction of recruitment days is significant, even if it appears minor.

Ultimately, it is not a software change. But it’s just a casual reminder to Sanders that there are some guidelines he must observe. However, if Lewis becomes a celebrity in Boulder, we doubt anyone will be concerned about any impropriety.
